Child Heese Beach Camp

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS




  1. What is your weather policy?

Child Heese camp will run in all weather conditions except lightning/thunderstorms. If a day is cancelled due to weather, information will be posted on website by 7:30 A.M. Please note that no refunds or transfers will be made due to cancellation of program days due to weather.



  1. What type of equipment do the athletes need to bring?

All nets and volleyballs will be provided by Child Heese Beach Camp. Athletes are simply responsible for bringing clothing appropriate for warm and cold conditions.  We will play rain or shine, and as outlined in our weather policy, will only cancel if there is a concern for safety. If they will be swimming between sessions please bring swimming gear, i.e. swim suit and towel, etc.


  1. Should the athletes bring their own food?

Lunches are not provided by the camp. All athletes should bring lunch as well as extra snacks and drinks. Water and drinking containers will be provided by the camp.


  1. The observed holiday for Canada Day is on Monday July 1, 2013, so when does the camp start?

Child Heese Beach Camp is a four day camp for 2013 due to the Monday July 1 being the observed Canada Day. The camp starts on Tuesday July 2 at 8:30.


  1. Where is Ashbridge’s Bay?

The beach is located just south of Lakeshore Blvd., between Coxwell Ave. and Woodbine Ave., in the Beaches area of Toronto.



  1. Will the athletes be outdoors all day?

The camp is outdoors, and although regular breaks will be given to athletes to rest or eat in the shade, they should bring extra sunscreen, a pair of sunglasses, as well as a hat or visor to protect themselves from the sun. Sandsocks are also highly recommended as the sand can get extremely hot. Child Heese will be selling Sandsocks on site.


  1. Will there be any other activities other than beach volleyball?

This is a beach volleyball focussed camp, although we will be offering a swimming break at Donald D. Summerville Pool just down the boardwalk in between sessions. If you child is registered for full day sessions, please sign permission form and bring to camp first day or send in with registration form.


  1. What safety precautions are in place for the athletes?

Child Heese Beach Camp is sanctioned by the Ontario Volleyball Association, and will abide by all safety recommendations and regulations set out in the sanctioning agreement.


  1. Do I need to have a beach partner to register?

You do not have to register with a partner. In fact, most of the campers will be signed up as individuals. If your regular partner is also attending Child Heese Beach Camp please let us know the first day of camp and we will make best efforts to have you play together as often as possible.


  1. Do you run any other programs throughout the year?

Both Mark and John have other programming happening throughout the year. Please check www.leasidevolleyball.com and www.maximumreach.ca for more opportunities to access John and/or Mark as coaches.


  1. Do John and Mark do private coaching?
